Our family of 17 is coming over to our house for Thanksgiving this year. What do you do when everyone is coming to your house for Thanksgiving? How would you set your tables?
This is a big event like Christmas Dinner or Easter Dinner. We like to have both tables that we set coordinate with one another. We have held Thanksgiving at our house for 12 years now. We have a 12 seater table and a smaller 5 seater table. The smaller table is usually for the kids however in our house sometimes the adults sit with the kids as the older kids come sit at the big table. For years we have had the house decorated for Christmas by Thanksgiving. We have Christmas decorations out already. This year we are trying to be more authentic with our Thanksgiving using our pumpkins and gourds and the arrangements all coordinating with another to give that cohesive look we are after.
To start off we used two autumn burnt orange tablecloths in the damask style. We then placed a lace runner down the center that is cream with a lace edge. The white chargers that were used have a scalloped edge and were purchased at Hobby Lobby. The main star for our table is our set of Friendly Village made by Johnson Brothers. We absolutely love this set. We have 12 dinner plates so our smaller 5 seater table we had to improvise with the anniversary set we have by Essex. The plates are white with gold trim. We had more Friendly Village salad plates, bowls and cups and saucers to bring the smaller table together with the larger one.
The floral arrangements we made as similar as possible. We do them at the same time so they all match each other. To keep with our theme we used silver-toned flatware by Wallace.
Each place setting gets multiple glasses and of course you can’t set up a table without the wine. These 2 tables are setup to coordinate so everyone gets to dine in style. Thanksgiving is a special occasion at our house. Sometimes its one of the few times we see our family in the year with all of our busy lives.
