We love the holidays, and Spring is always a fun time of year to lighten and brighten our space. I had an idea, I told Jeff my idea to turn the bar cart into a French flower cart and he loved it. He took that and ran with it! A few years ago at an estate sale we found our bar cart which is really a plant cart. We wanted it preserved inside our home. As a result it has been used as a bar cart ever since.
French street vendor carts need a cover. So if it were outside on the streets of Paris those flowers would need shade. Jeff came up with the brilliant idea of making a pole out of PVC pipe. He next painted the pipe with a metallic finish to match our cart. Zip ties are very removable and they were perfect to connect the pole to our cart. We then found a parasol to put in the pole to cover our cart.
Any street vendor has to have a sign for their product and we searched and found this painted canvas purchased at Hobby Lobby that he wrote in French on it to advertise. He also picked up at Hobby Lobby some more milk bottles to fit in our crate that we bought this last Fall there. Because we needed more containers for flowers we picked up quite a few pots for containers. All in the galvanized metal and some in a plastic that were fairly inexpensive.
The flowers are important as well since we are talking about a flower cart here. So we didn’t want to overspend on this project, so we went up to Walmart and bought some of the better looking silk flower bunches. Collecting silk flowers can be fun, especially to know you can reuse them over and over. Spending more on our faux flowers and stems is usually a must to get quality and beauty. We buy from Michael’s, Hobby Lobby or Joanne’s which are near us here where we live. Our flower cart has crocus, roses, lavender, tulips, calla lily and wisteria. The wisteria we added to a flower bottle behind the sign to bring more attention to our cart. To check out our video and see the whole project come together check out the link below.
